Abdurrahman Garrio, a Libyan grad student at Indiana University, joins William Morris for a conversation about the dramatic events presently unfolding in Libya.  Abdurrahman traces the history of peaceful protests back to events in 1995 when the Qaddafi regime killed over 1,200 Libyans under secretive conditions.  He also speaks about his hopes for the new government and how Libya has a “new light of hope” for all Libyans.  Abdurrahman also offers insight about the character of Muammar Qaddafi, as well as the critical role of social media,al-Jazeera and other media outlets in fueling the revolution.  At the end of the interview, Abdurrahman describes both the just-completed season of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid within the Islamic faith.
