Indiana Economic Forecast

2009 sucked, and 2010 couldn’t possibly be much worse. That’s the gist of the annual economic forecast presented yesterday by experts from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Some have declared that the national recession is over, but the Kelley School panel said any economic progress will continue to be weakened by the aftermath of a historically severe downturn. Although the worst appears to be behind us, the panel said it will take three to five years to restore the luster to the economy and once again reach full employment. In Indiana, 2010 will be a tough year, but not tougher than the nation as a whole, says Jerry Conover, director of the Indiana Business Research Center. Conover is optimistic about economic growth for Indiana in the year ahead as we take you on-location to the Columbia Club in Indianapolis.
