House Bill Aims to Limit Student Votes

Play

Under a proposed house bill, out of state students could lose the ability to vote in state and local elections in Indiana. The bill, HB 1311, introduced by Republican State Representative Peggy Mayfield of Martinsville would tie in-state tuition status to the right to vote. The bill could potentially change the political landscape in places with large student populations like Bloomington and West Lafayette. WFHB reporter Tyler Lake spoke with Professor of law at Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Luis Fuentes-Rohwer this afternoon about the implications of the proposed bill, for this WFHB Feature Exclusive.
