As federal lawmakers debate a new energy bill AND a healthcare bill, Bloomington residents rallied today in front of the Monroe County Courthouse. The version of the energy bill that passed the House of Representatives was significantly weakened by industry lobbyists and would repeal a key portion of the Clean Air Act, opening the door for as many as 100 new coal plants. Likewise, on the healthcare bill, reform advocates are saying it doesnít do enough and isnít moving forward fast enough.
