Geologist, Volunteer: Cristian Medina

Play

Cristian Medina and the team at the Indiana Geological and Water Survey are searching for ways to safely dispose of the carbon dioxide gas created by the burning of fossil fuels. He hopes the solution may slow down global warming. The Chilean native practices a hard science but also has a passion for poetry. He and a partner co-founded Cardboard House Press, a DIY publisher inspired by the cartoneros of South America. He volunteers for WFHB, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, a youth chess club, and has helped get the city’s OK for Bloomington’s first “parklet.”

Host Michael Glab goes one-on-one with Bloomington’s most fascinating people every Thursday at 5:30pm. Tune in for a bonus feature, Big Talk Extra, every Monday on the Daily Local News at 5:00pm for added chat from the previous week’s show.
