The Human Rights Campaign has awarded Bloomington with a top score in protecting LGBTQ-plus individuals in the community; As Donald Trump claims this year’s election is rigged, Indiana officials continued today to suggest that large-scale voter fraud might have occurred in the state; A local metal works company has been granted more time to correct high levels of zinc and selenium in its industrial wastewater; Five new sheriff’s deputies, improvements at the youth services bureau, and employee raises are part of the 52 million dollar budget approved by the Monroe County Council last week.

FEATURE
Beginning this Friday, October 21st, the IU Theatre Department will perform the 2013 Tony Award winning play by Christopher Durang, “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.” The play is a kind of modern riff on the plays of Anton Chekhov. In this next edition of Arts Interchange, Doug Storm interviews Abby Lee who plays Masha, the fading Hollywood actress. They speak about how the comedy works to mask the pain of aging and isolation that is revealed as the “Three Sisters” meet again at the ancestral family home to confront an uncertain future. The interview begins with Abby Lee addressing Storm’s question about the depressing elements of the play.
