FEATURE
Heather Bradshaw is a research scientist at Indiana University’s Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. She specializes in lipids — what laboratory detectives like her call fats. Lipids, or fats, are indispensable substances that allow our brain cells to communicate with each other as well as other organs and systems of our bodies. One such lipid class are the Cannabinoids, the fats found in marijuana plants. Identifying and isolating these lipids may result in pharmaceutical drugs that can relieve symptoms of diseases and perhaps even cure certain cancers. Bradshaw joined Michael Glab on last week’s Big Talk. Today, she talks about the possibilities of medications arising from research into the marijuana plant.
