The Bloomington Police Department reported last week that 10 drug overdose cases occurred in the city within 24 hours. Numbers released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development show Indiana leading the Midwest in low joblessness numbers. Plans are in the works for a new performing arts center in Nashville, Indiana. Bloomington’s Department of Economic & Sustainable Development, in collaboration with the Utilities Department, has commissioned a new mural for 423 S. Washington Street.

Matlock Heights, a neighborhood on Bloomington’s north side is taking another step to protect its historic character and fend off student-oriented development. Reporter Sarah Vaughan has that story for today’s WFHB Community report.
