Two major insurance companies, Anthem and MD Wise, announced today they won’t participate in Indiana’s health insurance exchange next year. According to an annual report by The Rural School and Community Trust, rural Indiana schools receive disproportionate funding compared to urban or suburban schools. Community members within the Richland Bean Blossom School Corporation want to see less crowded schools, better safety and security, and upgrades to facilities. Out of the 73 schools honored during an Indiana Advanced Placement Recognition ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse, three of them were from Bloomington. The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded more than $1.2 million in grants to arts programs throughout Indiana, including $30,000 to The American Folklore Society in Bloomington.
