In its second meeting of the week, the Bloomington City Council last night authorized a tax break associated with a mixed use development on South Walnut Street where the Chocolate Moose and other small businesses are currently located; The City of Bloomington Utilities is again reporting high levels of disinfectant byproducts, or DBPs, in the City’s drinking water; Indiana has the cheapest cost of doing business in the United States, but relatively low quality of life, according to the CNBC annual list of America’s Top States for Business; According to the Indiana Institute for Working Families, hundreds of thousands of low-income Hoosiers are without access to transportation due to the suspension of their drivers licenses—not for reckless driving or DUI’s, but for a variety of non-safety reasons.

Mike Pence may be out of the race for governor of Indiana. That’s because, according to the Indianapolis Star, Pence has been chosen to be the vice presidential nominee for the Republican party. Pence would run alongside Donald Trump. The newspaper does not clearly cite its source, but they state plainly that “IndyStar has confirmed that Trump plans to announce Pence as his selection for vice president.” For more on that story, WFHB News Director Joe Crawford spoke today with Indiana University political science professor Marjorie Hershey.
