FEATURE
A new initiative led by Indiana University-Bloomington will take a deeper dive into data collected on students. The hope is that the faculty-driven initiative will inform teaching and advising methods, and improve student learning. Ultimately, supporters hope it will increase student success in their chosen degree tracks. IU will be joined in the study by four other universities, all of whom are members of the Bay View Alliance. The alliance is a network of Canadian and American research universities working to improve success of both teachers and students in higher education. IU takes the lead on the new research because of its existing program, the Student Learning Analytics Fellows program. WFHB’s Sarah Vaughan spoke with Bay View’s program director, Dr. Lorne Whitehead, and IU’s Professor George Rehrey to learn more about the new study on student learning analytics.
