Co-housing Developer: Loren Wood

Play

A former high school math teacher, Loren Wood discovered his love for building homes during his summer vacations and eventually started his own business, Loren Wood Builders. Several years ago, he was contacted by members of the Bloomington Cohousing Project group to help them build their dream neighborhood, a car-free, shared-amenities, tight-knit community where neighbors would know each other, share meals and facilities, and still own their own homes. Wood’s plans have been approved by the city and he expects groundbreaking at the South Maxwell Street site to take place later this month. This is Part 1 of a two-part series with Part 2 to feature Bloomington Cohousing Project co-founder Marion Sinclair to run next week.

Host Michael Glab goes one-on-one with Bloomington’s most fascinating people every Thursday at 5:30pm. Tune in for a bonus feature, Big Talk Extra, every Monday on the Daily Local News at 5:00pm for added chat from the previous week’s show.
