Cathy Smith, Ann Boehm, And Therese Chambers, Candidates for Monroe County Auditor

Play

The Monroe County Auditor’s Office has been plagued by scandal for years. Most recently, former auditor Steve Saulter was charged with fraud and official misconduct for misusing County credit cards. Saulter allegedly used the County’s money to make personal purchases at Kroger, Wal-Mart and Marsh. Saulter stepped down from the position over the summer. Now there are three candidates seeking to take his old job. Therese Chambers is the interim auditor, who took over after Saulter resigned. Cathy Smith is the current County Treasurer. And Ann Boehm is a self-employed accountant who once worked as a financial claims representative in the Auditor’s Office. All three candidates sat down for a conversation with WFHB reporter Jerrod Dill. We bring you a portion of their conversation now for today’s WFHB community report. The candidates are running for Monroe County Auditor this year. You can hear a full version of that conversation tomorrow at 6PM on our weekly lecture series, Standing Room Only.
