Bev Smith and William Hosea welcome Patrick Smith, executive director of the Office of Mentoring Services and Leadership Development and Kim Morris-Newson, associate director of the Office of Community and School Partnerships.

PART ONE
A middle and high school student empowerment symposium will be hosted on Friday, November 8th at Indiana University.  This is in partnership with IU’s Offices of Community and School Partnerships; and Mentoring Services and Leadership Development; and the Monroe County Community School Corporation. This takes place at the Neal Marshall Black Culture Center’s Grand Hall. The theme for the conference is “Developing Self-Reliance.” The Symposium /Workshop presenter is Mr. Shawn Woods.

On that same day, the collegiate crowd will enjoy the 2013 Diversity Leadership Conference, co-sponsored by the Office of Mentoring Services and Leadership Development and the Hudson and Holland Scholars Program. This event represents the combining of two separate conferences under one banner to recognize their common goals of scholarship and student development in the areas of leadership and self-efficacy. The conference consists of workshops, seminars, and engaging speakers.

Joining Bev and William to elaborate more are conference planners, Patrick Smith, executive director of the Office of Mentoring Services and Leadership Development and Kim Morris-Newson, associate director of the Office of Community and School Partnerships.
