Eljuri

Umalali

Cecilia Villar Eljuri was born in Ecuador and raised in New York City.  Her father, the radio, theatre and television pioneer Paco Villar and her mother, composer Olga Eljuri de Villa, influenced Cecilia artistically at an early age.  By 17 she was performing in NYC clubs as lead guitarist and singer with the group Trouble Dolls, playing consistently at CBGB’s.  In 1998 she explored her Latin roots and formed Grupo Fiesta.  2006 began her solo career (Eljuri) and in En Paz, Cecilia creates an album more serious in nature than any of her previous releases.  “The driver for this record was my need to express what was going on in the world – from my point of view,” explains Cecilia.  Quite atmospheric.

Ahn Trio

Lullaby for my Favorite Insomniac

Born in Seoul, Korea, and educated at Juilliard in New York City, the members of the Ahn Trio "sisters Maria, Lucia, and Angella" are redefining the art and architecture of chamber music, breathing new life into the standard piano-trio literature with commissioned works from visionary composers like Kenji Bunch, Maurice Jarre, Nikolai Kapustin and Michael Nyman. The trio's latest CD, Lullaby for My Favorite Insomniac (recorded by their own label, L.A.M.P), is a showcase of this vibrant and original music.  They have created their own label, L.A.M.P (Lucia Angella Maria Productions), to allow them greater freedom to further explore the new, cutting edge projects they have always pursued. It is precisely this vitality and commitment to innovation that has the Ahn Trio continually drawing new audiences to classical music.”~ (ahntrio.com)
