Kirby Hammel grew up in Indiana to a musical familiy. Learning piano in his youth and picking up a guitar later on, he utilizes contrasting styles; he’s got one foot in an acoustic guitar-based folk singer-songwriter domain, and another foot in a blues boogie-woogie piano domain. Having recently moved back to Bloomington after a stint of many years in California, in this session we talk about what it’s like to be back in Indiana, and Hammel shares some tunes in his two divergent idioms.
