The mission of the Indiana Limestone Symposium is to teach and share the art and tradition of carving limestone. Come out to the Symposium and watch beginning to advanced carvers!
The Symposium was founded in 1996 by two master stone sculptors, Amy Brier and Frank Young. It’s based on the Greek model of gathering for discussion and celebration, and continues the tradition of sculpture symposia that are common in Europe and Asia. The Symposium’s instructors believe that anyone with the desire to carve can learn how. The atmosphere is relaxed, congenial, and non-judgmental. Instructors are available at all times to guide participants through the process of carving from start to finish.

The Bloomfield Friday Farmer’s Market will feature “Small Business Night” and “Vintage Pop-Up Night” on Friday, September 9 from 4-7 pm. For a $5 fee, small businesses and vintage/collectable sellers are invited to set up a tent/table and advertise their business or sell their wares! The purpose of Small Business Night is to inform the public about the goods and services provided by small businesses in our own community, and to encourage residents to “buy local”. The Bloomfield market is held each Friday and is located on the corner of Spring and Franklin streets. Small Business displays will be set up in the grassy lot across Franklin Street from Bloomfield Manufacturing. Businesses can pay their fee to the market manager that evening. If there are questions, please contact the committee via our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Bloomfield.community.farmers.market/
The fair will include tons of family friendly events, including:
Electric Bicycle Races, where you can compete against yourself and your friends to see how much energy you can create using pedal power.
Kill-a-Watt Table, where you can guess how much energy various appliances use and how much they cost you! You’ll be surprised by what you’ll find.
Photo Booth with props and our EnergyMobile!
Human Powered Booth. Have you gotten in the habit on relying on electric appliances to perform the simplest of tasks? See how easy and satisfying it is to perform tasks without expensive, unnecessary appliances.
Water Wheel game, where you can quiz yourself and learn all about your local water supply.
…and much more!
Stop by any booth and be entered to win one of many prizes!
