In today’s feature report, Bassler tells WFHB he has previously sponsored legislation aimed at preserving ten to thirty percent of state forests from logging. With much of his district including areas of state forest, Bassler says Senate Bill six-ten is a different approach to his previous conservation bills, which didn’t make it out of the state’s Natural Resources Commission.

Monroe County Asks For More Conversation About Hoosier Logging

The County Council signed a letter to the Hoosier National Forest’s district ranger, asking for broader public discussion of the pending Houston South project. The project calls for logging of approximately four thousand acres within the Hoosier National Forest. HUD To Fund New Shalom Development

Shalom Community Center in Bloomington received hundreds of thousands of dollars to fund a new Housing First development.  Executive Director Forrest Gilmore said the Davis Homes are the latest Housing First development, aimed at reducing area homelessness. The Davis Homes Apartments Initiative received a $322,000 Federal grant from Housing and Urban Development on Friday.  Davis Homes Apartments are expected to be in development …
